Overview

In his over 25 years of experience, Principal, John L. Hunt, has served as counsel on some of New York’s most significant ground-up development projects and operating properties in nearly every sector of the real estate market, including sports and entertainment, commercial office, retail, and multi-family residential.  Through this varied experience, handling hundreds of transactions worth billions of dollars, as both in-house and outside counsel, he has developed the depth and breadth of industry knowledge, professionalism, collegiality, and practicality he’s become known for and delivers on behalf of his clients.

As the former General Counsel of a leading New York City construction manager, and Senior Vice President, Counsel and Risk Manager for a major owner/developer, John has a thorough understanding of the goals and concerns each party brings to a design or construction transaction, the critical roles played by designers, constructors, owners, consultants, lenders, insurers, and sureties, the benefits and drawbacks of different project delivery methods, strategic risk allocation practices, and the use of insurance to transfer risk.

With over 16 years of in-house experience, John brings to this law practice an acute awareness of what clients find lacking in the traditional relationship between outside counsel and client.  This goal of this firm is to be the responsive, client-centered, cost-conscious, team member that its clients rely on to drive their projects forward.
